Serve Talent in Ipswich, Suffolk, is seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join its established engineering and manufacturing team. You will fabricate, weld and assemble metal components to exacting standards.

Reading engineering drawings, using workshop machinery, and performing quality checks on finished assemblies are key aspects. The role involves working Monday to Thursday 7.30am–4.00pm and Friday 7.30am–1.00pm, with overtime available.

Qualifications

• Proven welding, fabrication and sheet metal experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Work with MIG/TIG welding to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication.

• Operate workshop machinery (press brakes, guillotines, saws, drills).
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised workshop.
• Occasionally handle insulation materials when required.
• Support wider workshop tasks as needed.

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7.30am - 4.00pm; Friday, 7.30am - 1.00pm

The Role

As a Fabricator/Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components to precise standards. Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications, you will use a range of workshop machinery and equipment to produce high-quality components and finished assemblies.

The role would suit an experienced Fabricator/Welder who takes pride in their workmanship, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider manufacturing team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Conducting MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication to precise standards
• Fabricating and assembling metal components for industrial equipment
• Operating workshop machinery, including press brakes, guillotines, saws, drills, and associated equipment
• Performing fitting, finishing, and quality checks on completed assemblies where required
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop
• Working with Rockwool and other insulation materials
• Taking a flexible approach and being willing to undertake tasks outside of typical Fabricator/Welder duties
• Successfully passing a down-hand butt and fillet weld test using MIG

• Proven experience in welding, fabrication, and sheet metal work
• Experience with MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A flexible and positive approach to supporting wider workshop requirements
• The ability to meet the required welding standard through a down-hand butt and fillet weld test using MIG
