Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a Senior Weapon Systems Support Engineer to bridge design and manufacturing, ensuring seamless production of advanced launcher assemblies. You will guide a team of support engineers, applying problem-solving to sustain manufacturing activities and improve designs for reliability while delivering cross-functional development opportunities.

The role requires an engineering background with electromechanical expertise and the ability to work autonomously, communicating clearly

Qualifications

• Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent industry experience) with experience of designing product/ systems and/ or providing support to designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle.
• Proven experience in electromechanical engineering disciplines.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting manufacturing issues and implementing Design for Manufacture and Assembly improvements into the design.
• EMC, Electrical systems, Power electronics design, Design for Safety are advantageous.
• Investigative skills to establish root causes of design related issues and proposing robust corrective actions.
• Ability to work autonomously, lead delivery of work, and engage with stakeholders for successful delivery.
• Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills with clear engineering documentation.

Senior Weapon Systems Support Engineer – Product Design Support

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electromechanical Engineer to join our team and play a leading role in the support of production activities to a unique equipment portfolio in our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities.

Salary: £41,000-£46,500 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on‑site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply.

As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity

As a Senior Weapon Systems Support Engineer you will serve as the critical interface between our design and manufacturing teams. Collaborating closely with a team of support engineers, you will provide both proactive guidance and reactive technical problem-solving to sustain real‑time manufacturing activities for our highly advanced launcher assemblies. This position offers a rigorous engineering challenge while providing scope for cross‑functional growth and professional development. You will not only witness sophisticated designs transition into physical reality, but will play a pivotal role in refining those designs to ensure peak performance and reliability for our customers.

What we’re looking for from you

• Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent industry experience) with experience of designing product/ systems and/ or providing support to designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle
• Proven experience in electromechanical engineering disciplines
• Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting manufacturing issues and implementing Design for Manufacture and Assembly improvements into the design
• Experience in the following disciplines are an advantage, but not essential: Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Electrical systems Power electronics design Design for Safety Investigative skills to establish root causes of design related issues and proposing robust corrective actions
• An ability to work autonomously when needed, lead the delivery of your work assignments and actively engage with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of your outputs
• Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the capability to write clear and concise engineering documentation
