Job summary

MBDA is seeking a Senior Weapon Systems Support Engineer – Product Design Support in the UK. The role focuses on sustaining real-time manufacturing activities for a sophisticated launcher portfolio, working closely with design and manufacturing teams.

Hybrid work is offered with on-site presence most days due to workload. The successful candidate will bridge design intent and production reality, applying problem-solving, DFMA principles, and robust analytical methods to maintain peak performance

Qualifications

• Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent industry experience) with experience of designing product/ systems and/or providing support to designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle.
• Proven experience in electromechanical engineering disciplines.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting manufacturing issues and implementing Design for Manufacture and Assembly improvements into the design.
• Desirable: EMC, Electrical systems, Power electronics design, Design for Safety.
• Investigative skills to establish root causes and propose robust corrective actions.
• Ability to work autonomously, lead your outputs, and engage with stakeholders for delivery.
• Excellent verbal communication and engineering documentation skills.

Senior Weapon Systems Support Engineer – Product Design Support

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electromechanical Engineer to join our team and play a leading role in the support of production activities to a unique equipment portfolio in our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities.

Salary: £41,000-£46,500 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply.

As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

As a Senior Weapon Systems Support Engineer you will serve as the critical interface between our design and manufacturing teams. Collaborating closely with a team of support engineers, you will provide both proactive guidance and reactive technical problem-solving to sustain real-time manufacturing activities for our highly advanced launcher assemblies.

This position offers a rigorous engineering challenge while providing scope for cross-functional growth and professional development. You will not only witness sophisticated designs transition into physical reality, but will play a pivotal role in refining those designs to ensure peak performance and reliability for our customers.

What we're looking for from you:

You'll need to demonstrate a mixture of the following attributes:

• Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent industry experience) with experience of designing product/ systems and/ or providing support to designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle


• Proven experience in electromechanical engineering disciplines


• Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting manufacturing issues and implementing Design for Manufacture and Assembly improvements into the design
