Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Team, with opportunities to be based across our North and Midlands offices (Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds, Manchester) and a flexible hybrid working model.

You will design and review mechanical elements for wastewater and water infrastructure, lead design stages, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and support bids and project delivery for major water clients across the UK.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with water and wastewater treatment experience.
• Chartered or near Chartered with membership in a Professional Institution.
• Proven experience as a senior engineer at a consultancy within the water sector.
• Experience in managing projects, delegating tasks and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the design and review of mechanical elements in wastewater and water infrastructure projects including site surveys and liaising with clients, contractors and suppliers.
• Engage in all design stages (Feasibility to Construction) ensuring compliance with design standards.
• Collaborate with other discipline teams locally and nationwide; communicate with clients and partners throughout phases; mentor junior staff.
• Assist in bid preparation and management, interfacing with clients to understand needs and expectations.
• Deliver high-quality designs within budgets and timelines; produce calculations, drawings and reports per standards; support a range of clients across the water sector.
