Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team in our ward. You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, take charge in the ward in the absence of senior staff, and allocate work to the team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

The role involves 12-hour shifts across days, nights, weekends and bank holidays, with flexible working to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Post-registration patient care experience.
• Ability to manage changing workload.
• Teaching and mentoring skills.
• NMC code of conduct knowledge.
• CPD portfolio maintenance.
• Leadership and clinical governance understanding.
• Nursing strategy awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Take charge of the Ward/Unit in the absence of senior staff and allocate work.
• Support as requested by Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure smooth unit operation.
• Attend to 12-hour shift patterns covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
