Job summary

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Management team at Denmark Hill. The role is job-shared (7.5 hours/week) and involves rotating across clinical specialties, medicines reconciliation, and ward-based services.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 plus underpinning knowledge or equivalent.
• Registered as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC.
• ACPT qualification or working towards it.
• Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practise.
• HEE Medicines Optimisation course or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Undertake medicines management accreditations (reconciliation, POD checks) under supervision.
• Maintain compliance with Trust policies for Medicines Management Technicians.
• Act as technical link between wards and pharmacy; manage calls/requests via Wifi phones.
• Propose and implement policies for ward-based pharmacy services.
• Adhere to quality standards and drive service development.
• Support Pharmacy Clinical Services in medicines management development.
• Accurately check clinically screened prescriptions per policy.
• Record medication histories in EPIC; endorse PODs and home assessments.
• Highlight medicine management incidents and develop corrective actions.
• Cover dispensary services as needed; lead ward-based satellite pharmacy when relevant.
• Participate in induction of new staff and training of technicians.
• Line manage a band 3 medicines management pharmacy assistant.
• Participate in research and audits in Pharmacy.
