Job summary

Volkswagen Group UK is seeking an Outbound Logistics & Planning Manager based in Milton Keynes. You will manage outbound vehicle logistics, supplier networks and UK delivery capacity, with responsibility for a £120m budget and a team of one direct report.

The role requires deep knowledge of finished-vehicle logistics, UK transport networks, and regulatory compliance, with a track record in complex supply chains and disruption recovery.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in finished-vehicle logistics, inland transport, delivery planning or a comparable complex supply-chain environment.
• Strong knowledge of finished-vehicle logistics, UK transport networks and carrier operating models.
• Understanding of UK transport legislation including drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive.
• Experience managing time-critical operations across multiple suppliers and locations.
• Ability to balance capacity, cost, service, and regulatory requirements during disruption.

Responsibilities

• Managing outbound vehicle logistics across inland transport, port-to-retailer delivery, used vehicles and specialist movements within agreed service levels.
• Developing the end-to-end capacity plan by integrating brand sales plans, production schedules, shipping flows, port stock, and dealer stock levels.
• Comparing planned volumes with available capacity and challenging plans to avoid stock or delivery risk.
• Allocating transport capacity and maintaining contingency plans for supplier shortfalls, port congestion, and disruptions.
• Making time-critical decisions during disruption to balance capacity, cost and customer impact.
• Leading investigations into recurring delivery and capacity issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Managing the outbound supplier portfolio and holding providers accountable for KPIs and compliance.
• Collaborating with Procurement and Legal on tenders, renewals and negotiations with evidence-based recommendations.
• Managing approximately £120m annual expenditure and monitoring budget performance.
• Ensuring outbound operations meet transport legislation, quality, H&S, and sustainability requirements.
• Leading and developing one direct report and maintaining operational knowledge.
