Job summary

Goldman Sachs in London seeks an Associate in Global Banking & Markets to support the Chief Underwriting Office. The role covers advising deal teams on approval requirements, coordinating committee processes, risk booking post-signature, and leading regulatory-driven process improvements.

You will mentor junior team members, collaborate across risk, control, and engineering teams, and participate in audits and regulatory examinations as part of a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• At least 4-5 years of related experience.
• Interest in debt and equity capital markets.
• Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral as well as written.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Strong coordination and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
• Motivated to develop credit and equity analysis skills and an understanding of financing documentation.
• Ability to work well with team members and across multiple other internal teams, motivated to train and advise junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Advising deal teams on approval requirements for different transaction types
• Scheduling, ensuring smooth operation of, and minuting follow ups for Capital or Commitments committees in various forms (regular, ad hoc, and offline meetings and various delegated processes)
• Initiating risk bookings post transaction signing via approval of eCARs, working with Controllers, Middle Office and Divisional Risk to ensure accurate reflection of risk on the balance sheet
• Deputized responsibilities on behalf of Chief Underwriting Officers including presentation of transactions to committee; approval of Investment Grade bond issuances; and closing of committee follow-ups
• Assistance in roll-out of regulatory driven changes to approval processes and committee memoranda templates in coordination with Engineering, Credit Risk and GBM Private Leadership
• Coordination of responses to both internal and external audits and periodic regulatory examinations
• Acting as a team lead by advising and training junior team members
