Role Purpose

To support the UK, US, and Bermuda regulated entities in actively and effectively managing their regulatory engagements and risks. Our Aspen Values are reflected in the delivery and performance of every role.

Key Results Areas

Strategy and Planning

• Contribute to the annual Aspen Compliance Monitoring Plan to ensure appropriate coverage for UK and group regulatory risks.
• Review regulatory horizon scanning consultations, statements, and white papers; liaise with the business to address required actions.
• Contribute to monthly MI for reporting to Aspen Boards, Committees, and Steering Groups.
• Participate in Group Compliance Team meetings to promote effective compliance management within Aspen.

Policy, Process, and Procedures

• Develop and maintain UK rule mapping for key regulatory risks within Aspen.
• Work with the Compliance Analyst to develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures for UK entities.
• Provide technical support to Group functions in policy development.
• Identify gaps in policies and controls and recommend improvements.
• Promote and train stakeholders on compliance policies and procedures.
• Follow all compliance policies and procedures.

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

• Manage relationships with regulators.
• Build strong relationships with Aspen stakeholders across various departments.
• Attend UK branch steering group meetings, prepare and present papers.
• Participate in market forums and trade associations to strengthen external relationships.

Technical Performance

• Provide detailed, accurate regulatory advice for UK entities.
• Attend meetings to support and advise on regulatory matters.
• Assist with regulator requests and inquiries.

Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of FCA/PRA rulebooks, Lloyd’s requirements relevant to insurers and intermediaries.
• Understanding of core compliance areas like Financial Crime, Conflicts of Interest, Whistleblowing, and Monitoring.
• Awareness of regulations in jurisdictions where Aspen operates.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Interpret regulation and advise commercially.
• Conduct effective regulatory watch across multiple jurisdictions.

Experience

• Recent compliance experience within the London and Lloyd’s market, either as an insurer or broker.
• Experience managing regulatory relationships.
• Experience managing regulatory projects from monitoring to implementation.
