Job summary

Chase and Holland is recruiting a Senior Transport Planner for Worksop to oversee a busy fleet and lead a planning team. You will plan 20–30 Class 1 flatbed vehicles, maximise utilisation and ensure outstanding customer service.

Reporting to the Flatbed Operations Manager, you will drive performance, coordinate inspections and holidays, and collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to meet client requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience planning a fleet of 20+ HGV Class 1 vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of transport planning in distribution/logistics.
• Excellent communication with drivers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and make effective decisions under pressure.
• CPC qualification or willingness to work towards one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise a dedicated fleet of approximately 20–30 Class 1 flatbed vehicles.
• Maximise vehicle utilisation while maintaining exceptional customer service.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers.
• Coordinate vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules and driver holidays.
• Work with Operations and Commercial teams to meet customer requirements.
• Coach and support planning team members to improve performance.
• Monitor and improve key transport KPIs.
• Ensure jobs are completed accurately and handed over for invoicing.
• React quickly to changing operational demands and resolve issues.

We are working with an award-winning transport and logistics business to recruit an experienced Senior Transport Planner. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation specialising in construction logistics, where you'll play a key role in planning a busy fleet while leading and supporting a team of planners.

Reporting into the Flatbed Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day planning of approximately 20‑30 Class 1 flatbed vehicles, ensuring maximum fleet utilisation, excellent customer service and efficient operational performance across the network. About You

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner who is confident managing a busy fleet and enjoys working in a fast-moving logistics environment. You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience within a Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner position
• Experience planning a fleet of 20+ HGV Class 1 vehicles
• Strong knowledge of transport planning within a distribution or logistics operation
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build strong relationships with drivers and internal stakeholders
• The ability to prioritise workloads and make effective decisions under pressure
• A proactive and resilient approach with strong organisational skills
• CPC qualification or a willingness to work towards one

Desirable

• Experience planning flatbed vehicles
• Experience within construction logistics or heavy haulage
• Previous experience coaching or mentoring other planners
