Job summary

Loom Talent Limited is seeking a Transport Manager in Slough to lead day-to-day transport operations, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient service. You will manage and develop the transport team, optimise routes and fleet use, and drive improvements in performance and cost.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication and a solid CPC qualification with a track record in logistics or contract logistics.

Qualifications

• Management CPC and experience leading a transport operation in logistics or contract logistics.
• Strong people leadership and the ability to develop a high-performing team.
• Solid knowledge of transport compliance, legislation, and best practice.
• Experience managing fleet, drivers and KPIs in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, hands-on leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for day-to-day transport operation, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Lead, manage and develop the transport team with a culture of accountability and improvement.
• Oversee route planning and fleet utilization to meet legal, operational and customer requirements.
• Monitor KPIs including OTIF, service levels, vehicle utilisation and driver performance.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, policies and health & safety requirements.
• Collaborate with warehouse, planning and operations to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
• Manage vehicle maintenance, repairs and external transport suppliers to control downtime and costs.
• Investigate service failures and implement corrective actions.
• Drive improvements across the operation to enhance efficiency and cost performance.
