Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is recruiting for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to own the day-to-day transport operation in Portsmouth. You will manage drivers, planning, customer service and performance to drive efficiency and compliance.

The role requires hands-on leadership in a palletised distribution and warehousing environment, with a Monday to Friday schedule (8:30am–6:30pm) and a salary of £45,000–£50,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport operations or a senior transport role.
• Experience managing drivers or a transport team.
• Good understanding of day-to-day transport operations.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• CPC qualification not essential.
• Able to work in a busy, fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day transport operation.
• Manage and support drivers, warehouse and admin staff.
• Oversee daily planning, vehicle movements and deliveries.
• Monitor transport performance and resolve operational issues.
• Deal with driver and customer queries.
• Work closely with the warehouse and planning teams.
• Monitor vehicle availability, maintenance and downtime.
• Ensure drivers and vehicles operate safely and compliantly.
• Monitor driver hours, vehicle checks and relevant documentation.
• Identify ways to improve efficiency, service and operating costs.
• Manage operational administration and performance reporting.
