Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Development Planner in Leeds to support our regional Development Team, specialising in Transport and Civil Engineering for Development Planning. You will deliver concept studies, transport statements, and travel plans, guiding projects from planning through implementation within a collaborative team.

You will mentor staff, manage client relations, and ensure delivery meets budget and standards, with hybrid work across the UK and opportunities for international projects.

Qualifications

• A numerate first degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related subject.
• Experience of operating as a lead client contact for consultancy services and fostering excellent relationships with Clients and co‑professionals.
• Clear track record of presenting compelling written work in support of development proposals.
• Knowledge of appropriate transport planning guidance and best practice.
• Significant experience delivering transport planning projects across development planning, scheme delivery, sustainable transport and active travel, junction design, and knowledge of relevant standards.
• Working knowledge of junction modelling software (PICADY/ARCADY, Linsig) with ability to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support in delivery of concept studies/strategies, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Parking Studies, Access Studies, and Movement and Access Studies.
• Lead and mentor technical staff while ensuring projects meet budget, programme and technical standards.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key clients to achieve excellence in service provision and satisfaction.
• Stay up-to-date with standards and policies and raise WSP profile through networking and conferences.
• Engage in high-profile client engagement, stakeholder management, and project management.
• Deliver projects to budget, programme, and legal requirements.
