Job summary

Cardiff Council’s Inclusion Service is seeking a Senior ALN Transition Worker (Transport) to assess and support transport needs for ALN learners and to build strong multi-agency partnerships across agencies.

The role involves monitoring referrals, supporting training and guidance, and contributing to service improvement, working both independently and with the Inclusion, Travel Training and Transport Teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Experience working in multi-agency environments.
  • Knowledge of learner transport and accessibility in Cardiff (advantageous).

Responsibilities

Job description

Cardiff Council's Inclusion Service is committed to ensuring that children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) receive the support they need to access education and participate fully in their communities.

Working closely with Education, Transport, Health, Social Care and Third Sector partners, the service supports learners and their families through key transition periods, ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place to enable access to education and other opportunities. Our focus is on delivering person-centred, inclusive services that remove barriers and promote independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people across Cardiff.

About the job

As a Senior ALN Transition Worker (Transport), you will play a vital role in assessing and supporting the transport needs of children and young people with Additional Learning Needs who meet the criteria for transport arrangements.

The role involves developing strong partnerships across agencies, monitoring referrals and performance data, supporting the delivery of training and guidance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of services. You will work independently while also collaborating closely with colleagues across the Inclusion, Travel Training and Transport Teams.

This is a varied and rewarding position requiring excellent organisational skills, sound judgement and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with ALN

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for a highly organised, motivated and passionate individual who can join our dynamic forward-thinking team to improve outcomes for children through partnership working. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. They will need to be able to manage difficult conversations as part of disagreement resolution.

The ideal candidate will also have experience of working within multi-agency environments, using person-centred approaches, and supporting children and young people with Additional Learning Needs. Knowledge of learner transport arrangements and accessibility considerations within Cardiff would be advantageous.

This post is full time and will be 37 hours per week across 52 weeks (non term time).
