Job summary

Slough Borough Council is seeking a Trading Standards professional to manage a personal caseload and oversee Primary Authority inspections. The role requires the DCATS qualification (or equivalent) and modules in food standards, IP, or Metrology, with cross-team collaboration across Public Protection.

The post is permanent, 37 hours weekly, in observatory house Slough with hybrid working (minimum 2 days in the office). The team values diverse backgrounds and aims to protect consumers.

Qualifications

• Must have the food standards module or be working towards it.
• Intellectual property module required or willingness to obtain Metrology module.

Responsibilities

• Manage own case load across Trading Standards duties.
• Inspect and manage a portfolio of Primary Authority companies.
• Participate in project work set by regional and national regulators.
• Collaborate with Licensing and Environmental Health teams.

What you’ll be doing:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated individual with an ability to manage their own case load. The role will include all aspects of Trading Standards work. The candidate must have the minimum Trading Standards qualification of DCATS (or equivalent). They must have the food standards module or be working towards i, Intellectual property module and if they don’t have the module, the desire to obtain the Metrology module.

Additionally the role will include managing a portfolio of Primary Authority companies, undertaking inspections and participate in project work as set by regional and national regulators. A minimum of 5 years experience is required, candidates who have been out of the profession will be accepted, pursuant to competentecy.

As part of the Public Protection team at Slough Borough Council, there are opportunities for cross team working with Licensing and Environmental Health.
