Job summary

Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced Head of Environmental Services to lead the frontline services that shape residents' everyday experience of the borough. From waste and recycling to street cleansing, parks, open spaces and fleet operations, you will have the opportunity to make Slough cleaner, greener and healthier while strengthening pride in place across our diverse communities.

Directorate: Regeneration, Environmental and Planning

Pay Level: SML12 - £81,765 - £90,720 fully inclusive of Local Weighting Allowance

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Observatory House/ Slough Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office)

DBS requirement: Not required

What you'll be doing:

Slough Borough Council is looking for an experienced Head of Environmental Services to lead the frontline services that shape residents' everyday experience of the borough. From waste and recycling to street cleansing, parks, open spaces and fleet operations, you will have the opportunity to make Slough cleaner, greener and healthier while strengthening pride in place across our diverse communities.

This is a senior leadership role with genuine scale and influence. You will lead 171 colleagues, oversee significant revenue and capital budgets, improve performance and value for money, and turn the Council's ambitions into responsive, sustainable services. By working with residents, schools, businesses, partners and neighbouring authorities, you will champion better recycling, protect natural resources and help create welcoming public spaces for everyone.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1 April, subject to six months' service and satisfactory performance, until the maximum spinal column point is reached.
