Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Advanced Biomedical Scientist - Tissue Dissection to join the Histopathology team at Manchester Royal Infirmary. You will work with Advanced Practitioners across sub-specialities and achieve competency in dissection of category A–C specimens, ensuring high quality technical work and standards.

HCPC registration is required, and IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Band 7 requires IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice or working toward it.
• Experience in tissue dissection across sub-specialities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop competency in tissue dissection for categories A–C.
• Completion of audits evidencing competence to practice in line with ISO 15189 and RCPath standards.
• Support the Advanced Biomedical Scientists within the department with the day-to-day management of laboratory staff.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality service.
