Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in London invites applications for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist – Histology Specimen Dissection in the Cellular Pathology Department. This is a full-time position requiring HCPC registration and substantial diagnostic histology experience.

The role covers specialist technical services, day-to-day section management, training staff, and contributing to the extended BMS dissection role across the Histopathology Laboratory.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic and hardworking BMS with HCPC registration and considerable experience in diagnostic histopathology.
• Ability to participate in regional and national groups to develop Cellular Pathology guidelines.
• The department is an approved training laboratory with IBMS CPD support, encouraging further studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide and co-ordinate specialist clinical technical services to patients, including research and audits.
• Manage day-to-day operations of a section within the laboratory under the line manager.
• Contribute to a professional clinical technical service, working as part of the department.
• Provide training and supervision to staff within the section.
• Actively participate in the extended BMS histology specimen dissection role, including designated person responsibilities for the cut-up or routine section.
