Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria, Carlisle, is seeking an experienced Senior Therapeutic Radiographer to enhance clinical leadership and contribute to a forward‑looking radiotherapy service.

You will work with VMAT, SABR, SGRT, and MRI-based planning, supporting online adaptive radiotherapy, staff development, and high standards of patient care across ~1200 patients per year.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer or equivalent.
• Experience with radiotherapy planning and treatment verification.
• Experience in MRI-based planning and surface guided radiotherapy (SGRT).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within radiotherapy specialty.
• Support clinical excellence, service development and quality improvement.
• Mentor and educate colleagues within the MDT.

Join a progressive and innovative radiotherapy service at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care North Cumbria (NCCC-NS), Carlisle. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Therapeutic Radiographer to further develop their career within a department committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer care. We are a forward-thinking service with a strong programme of innovation, including MRI-based planning and Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT). As part of our continued development, we are preparing to introduce online adaptive radiotherapy, creating exciting opportunities for staff to develop advanced clinical skills and contribute to service transformation. We are expanding our pre-treatment workforce and are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our small, friendly, and supportive team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation, simulation, planning imaging, and treatment verification processes for approximately 1,200 patients each year across adult cancer services. Our department employs a wide range of advanced radiotherapy techniques, including VMAT, SABR, respiratory gating, and SGRT, supported by Siemens CT and MRI scanners and Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators.

• As a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer, you will provide expert technical leadership within your specialist area, supporting clinical excellence, service development, quality improvement, and the education and mentorship of colleagues. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and treatment accuracy.
