Job summary

The Blackheath Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner (Scrub) to join the Theatre department in London. This full-time, permanent role offers 37.5 hours per week with a salary up to £50,000 depending on experience, training and qualification.

Qualified candidates will have NMC or HCPC registration and strong perioperative, especially orthopaedic, experience. A leadership background and the ability to coordinate lists and mentor juniors are highly

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC).
• Significant perioperative experience, with orthopaedic knowledge.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and handle specialist instrumentation and equipment per protocols.
• Assist surgical and anaesthetic teams, anticipating needs during procedures.
• Lead theatre preparation, list coordination and resource availability.
• Support Theatre Manager with briefs, scheduling, stock control and patient flow.
• Supervise junior staff and provide clinical guidance.
• Identify risks and participate in audits and incident reviews.
• Collaborate with consultants, anaesthetists and ward teams to ensure continuity of care.
