Job summary
Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Test Systems Engineer to lead the specification, design, procurement, and verification of test equipment at our Southampton facility. You will coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of Test Engineers, deliver work packages on time and within budget, and support projects with documentation and governance.
The role involves hands-on testing across optical, thermal, and electronic components, developing new test capability, and presenting at IPTs.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or higher in Physics, Engineering or equivalent is required.
- Proven ability to verify and validate electro-mechanical test systems and diagnose faults.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of work packages and deliver to time and budget; track costs and progress.
- Identify needs and design test systems for detector/module development.
- Develop, procure, install and commission new test capabilities for product testing.
- Prove new test systems via testing and report on meeting requirements.
- Author governance and technical documentation, e.g. Declaration of Design and Performance.
- Act as Test Lead at Integrated Product Team meetings.
