Job summary

Safran Landing Systems, Gloucester site, invites a Senior Test Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of test rig systems for aircraft landing gear development and qualification.

You will translate customer and test requirements into safe, cost-effective engineering solutions, integrating mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, control and data-acquisition elements with cross-functional teams. The role involves driving design reviews and delivering robust test solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design capability from concept to detail.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and engineering drawings with GD&T.
• Ability to validate designs via calculations and FEM.
• Understanding hydraulic, electrical, control, instrumentation and data-acquisition systems.
• Knowledge of machine safety, ergonomics and manufacturability.
• Strong technical communication and ability to lead design reviews.
• Experience coordinating suppliers or manufacturing activities with cost/quality/schedule balance.
• Experience supporting manufacture, assembly or commissioning of engineering equipment.
• Leading the design of test solutions for landing gear components and systems.
• Developing concepts and designs for product development and verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of test rig systems for development and qualification testing of aircraft landing gear.
• Translate customer/test requirements into safe, practical engineering solutions across mech, hydraulic, electrical, control and data-acquisition domains.
• Collaborate with Test Engineers, Technicians, Design and Analysis teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Take solutions from initial concept through manufacture, assembly and delivery.
• Lead design reviews and provide clear supporting technical evidence.
