Job summary

Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to lead development and qualification testing, from planning to final reporting, including static, fatigue, endurance and environmental tests.

You will review test procedures, plan resources, coordinate execution, operate data acquisition systems and install instrumentation, while collaborating with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural strength, fatigue, endurance, environmental, and/or flight test instrumentation.
• Experience in electrical & hydraulic systems, servo controls and PLC controllers.
• Experience in the application & use of test control systems, data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
• Practical experience within a test environment
• Knowledge of strain gauging and its application (strain gauge theory would be advantageous).
• An ability to understand technical drawings and test requirement documentation.
• Experience with calibration of transducers, e.g., force, pressure, displacement.
• Technical report writing
• Project management skills to meet customer requirements and deliver customer satisfaction on quality, cost and time.
• Knowledge of safe working practices relating to all aspects of testing (e.g. General Health & Safety at Work, Risk Assessments, COSHH, Isolation & Lockout procedures, Lifting & Slinging)
• Excellent computer literacy & IT skills e.g. Microsoft Applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver development and qualification tests from early planning through design and setup of test solutions, execution of testing activities, and final reporting.
• Lead and coordinate test execution activities across disciplines and with internal/external stakeholders.
• Operate control and data acquisition systems and install/configure test instrumentation.
• Investigate faults and resolve testing issues; produce technical documentation and comprehensive test reports.
