Job summary

CBSbutler Holdings Limited trading as CBSbutler is seeking a Senior Test Engineer / Test Lead to drive quality across an enterprise Platform as a Service environment from our Bristol base. The contract runs 8-9 months with potential extensions, at a rate up to £575 per day inside IR35, with active DV clearance required.

The role combines manual and automated testing, owning test coverage, developing plans, and reporting risks and quality metrics to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in a Senior Test Engineer, Test Lead or equivalent role.
• Broad understanding of the software testing lifecycle and test methodologies.
• Experience developing test plans, schedules, test cases and measurable success criteria.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including test metrics and defect management.
• Experience working with virtualised environments.
• Experience testing air-gapped systems.
• Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own test coverage and ensure test cases are prioritised across testing phases.
• Develop and manage verification and validation plans, schedules and test strategies.
• Deliver manual and automated testing across platform services and user-facing functionality.
• Define and analyse test metrics, using results to identify risks and drive improvements.
• Implement iterative testing approaches to identify and resolve defects early.
• Raise and manage engineering tickets for defects and technical issues.
• Produce regular test reports, management information and performance metrics.
• Communicate testing risks, findings and recommendations to technical teams and senior stakeholders.
• Work with platform management and engineering teams to ensure quality standards are maintained.
