Job summary

Royal Greenwich is seeking a Senior Temporary Accommodation Officer to oversee the delivery of a critical temporary accommodation service in Woolwich, London. You will lead a team of Temporary Accommodation Officers, provide supervision, guidance and casework support to ensure high standards of service to households experiencing homelessness.

• Knowledge of homelessness and temporary accommodation legislation.
• Experience delivering frontline public services.
• Experience supervising staff in a busy service.
• Ability to manage workloads and prioritise.
• Strong analytical skills for risk and decisions.
• Experience giving guidance on high‑risk cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work with internal/external partners.
• Understanding safeguarding and information sharing.
• Ability to monitor performance and support staff development.
• Ability to handle competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and guidance to Temporary Accommodation Officers.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and casework support.
• Coordinate risk assessment and workload prioritisation.
• Represent the service at case conferences and planning meetings.
• Assist with procurement of temporary accommodation and handbacks.
• Ensure updates align with legislation and policy changes.
• Conduct home visits and participate in out-of-hours arrangements.
• Collaborate with partners and external agencies.
