Job summary

Royal Borough of Greenwich is recruiting three Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officers for a fixed-term 12‑month contract. The role involves field visits to temporary accommodation across London and beyond, verifying occupancy, assessing safety and compliance with tenancy conditions.

Qualifications

Understanding of housing, homelessness and temporary accommodation.
Knowledge of HHSRS, safeguarding and property condition issues.
Ability to identify housing fraud, non-occupation and breaches of licence/tenancy.
Confidence conducting planned and unplanned visits independently.
Ability to assess risks, gather evidence and make recommendations.
Strong communication, organisational and record-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

Carry out scheduled and unannounced visits to properties across London and beyond.
Verify occupancy and assess suitability and safety of temporary accommodation.
Identify property, safeguarding or tenancy concerns and document findings.
Investigate potential tenancy breaches and housing fraud and recommend appropriate action.
Collect evidence, analyse risks and provide sound recommendations for resolving issues.
