Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Senior Street Lighting Technician to join the Structures & Street Lighting Team at Mountsorrel Depot. You will undertake capital and revenue lighting programmes, perform designs and calculations, and be responsible for on-site inspections and installations.

The role requires an NVQ Level 4 in Electrical or equivalent, experience in a engineering setting and public lighting systems, ability to read diagrams, strong communication skills, and familiarity

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Electrical or related subject.
• Experience in an engineering setting including design, management, maintenance or administrative processes.
• Experience with public lighting systems including luminaires, control systems and power supply.
• Ability to read technical diagrams with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, team and independent work.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and lighting design software (Lighting Reality, CableCalc, Keylights).

Salary: £36,621 - £40,458 per annum (pro rata for part time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Highway Technicianas we are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individualto join our Structures & Street Lighting Team at Leicestershire County Council.

About the Role

As a Senior Street Lighting technician within the street lighting design team, you'll be undertaking of capital & revenue programmes, lighting designs and calculations & also be responsible for on site inspections, arranging the installation, maintenance and the repair of street lighting systems & illuminated signs throughout our local area for a variety of clients both internal & external. You will work closely with our team of engineers to ensure that street lights are working efficiently and cost-effectively

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and as it may also involve you carrying out work at different locations to your designated base, a UK driving licence is essential for this role.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

• You should have an NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Electrical or another relevant subject. Or experience that meets the essential requirements below:
• Experience of working in an engineering setting including design, management, maintenance or administrative, processes. These qualities in a street lighting or electrical services environment would be essential.
• Experience in working with public lighting systems, including individual luminaires, control systems, and power supply would be essential. Also the ability to read technical diagrams and drawings with strong analytical and problem-solving skills would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills are required, both written and verbal with the ability to work well both as part of a team and independently.
• Willingness to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• Experience of working in the office/ business environment using Microsoft Office and/or equivalent software. Experience of lighting design software (Lighting Reality, CableCalc & Keylights) would be essential.
• The ability to communicate effectively with Councillors, members of the public, external clients & Leicestershire County Council staff.
