The aseptic service at our hospital in Coventry is fortunate to possess a Quality Control laboratory with whom we work closely. Although cancer chemotherapy and clinical trial medication are our main aseptically dispensed products we plan to introduce the dispensing of parenteral nutrition in the near future. This is an exciting time for the aseptic service as there are many changes and opportunities on the horizon. The Trust is also part of a collaborative of hospitals seeking to rationalise and improve services across the local area. This is expected to bring additional benefits through closer working.

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates - If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Interviews will be on Thursday 17th July 2025 (tbc).

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the pharmacy cancer team, you will be encouraged to be innovative and forward looking and will work closely with the Aseptic Quality Assurance Team to maintain and improve our high standards. The successful candidate needs to be highly computer literate as an element of this role will involve supporting our electronic chemotherapy prescribing system. Our spacious aseptic facility benefits from seven pharmaceutical isolators and a friendly and hard-working team of technicians and ATO staff.

You will be a registered Pharmacy Technician with substantial hospital aseptic experience including strong GMP knowledge. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and previous experience working within change management and with pharmacy digital applications.

This role is integral to the maintenance and optimisation of our aseptic quality management and electronic chemotherapy prescribing system.

To support the pharmacy department in maintaining compliance with aseptic, good manufacturing practice (GMP) and quality assurance requirements. Support the maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS) in Aseptics and ensure that KPI improvement plans are effective.

Provide technical and operational support for the chemotherapy prescribing system, contributing to safe and effective patient care. The role will also involve assisting in the configuration and improvement of the chemotherapy prescribing system, under the guidance of senior pharmacists.
