Main duties of the jobEnsuring all aspects ofPharmacy IT systems software and hardware are set up and operated in a safemanner that complies with best practice and meet the needs of the department.
Supporting with themanagement of the pharmacy stock management system and other pharmacy ITsystems, including stand-alone functions in case of systems failure.
Supporting anddeveloping the operational aspects of automated medicines storage systems (inconjunction with Dispensary Manager and Chief Technician) in pharmacy andoutside on wards and clinical areas.
Supporting the Chieffor Clinical Informatics and ePMA in the day-to-day management of the EPMAsystem including the production of standard operating procedures (SOPs) on theuse and management of the system.
Managing, developing and providing thepharmacy technical elements of the ward-based pharmaceutical service to boththe allocated specialist area (cross-site).
Facilitating seamless pharmaceutical care topatients and technical pharmacy support to medical and nursing staff to ensurethe safe and cost-effective use of medicines within the post-holdersspecialist area.
Working unsupervised using his/her owninitiative to effectively manage the workload of junior technicians, juniorpharmacists and students including liaison with specialist pharmacists.
Fulfilling all the roles and responsibilitiesof an accredited accuracy checking technician within the pharmacy department asrequired if applicable.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Experience of working in a technical support role and proven experience in the development and support of IT systems within a health care setting to include implementing/problem solving clinical and pharmacy IT systems or automated storage systems.
- Current experience of teaching or training technical staff or students in pharmacy department or equivalent experience
- Current experience in communicating across care interfaces
Desirable- Experience of implementing and working with EPMA systems
- Experience of working with pharmacy stock management systems
- Experience of robotics and automation
- Current hospital proven experience of successfully delivering technical pharmacy services as a qualified technician including dispensary and aseptic services
