Job summary

HORIBA MIRA is seeking a Senior Technician for the Highway Safety & Protection of Infrastructure (HSPI) team in Nuneaton on a 12-month contract (Inside IR35). This hands-on role supports the preparation and delivery of vehicle, safety and security testing programmes, while guiding technicians across the facility.

You will help coordinate activities, provide on-the-job training, and contribute to continuous improvement in test methods and procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating colleagues within a technical, workshop or testing environment.
• A Level 4/HNC in mechanical or engineering (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• A flexible approach and the ability to adapt within a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in testing, research and development, instrumentation, calibration management or workshop/site safety activities would be advantageous but is not essential.

We're looking for a Senior Technician to join our Highway Safety & Protection of Infrastructure (HSPI) team in Nuneaton on a 12-month contract (Inside IR35). This is a hands‑on role supporting the preparation and delivery of vehicle, safety and security testing programmes, while providing day‑to‑day guidance and support to technicians across the facility. You'll play a key role in ensuring testing activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone with a workshop, testing or engineering background who enjoys practical problem‑solving, coordinating activities and working within a dynamic test environment. You'll have the opportunity to support a wide range of vehicle, safety and infrastructure testing programmes while helping to drive continuous improvement across the facility.

Please note; this role involves working outdoors in all weathers.

What you'll need

Please note

• This is a 12-month contract (Inside IR35).
• Working 39 hours per week.
• Rate: Up to £21 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
• Roles requires working outside in all weathers
• Security clearance will be required for this role due to the nature of work.
