Job summary

HORIBA MIRA Ltd in Nuneaton is seeking a Senior Technician for the HSPI team on a 12-month contract (Inside IR35). You will prepare vehicles, test assets and facilities for safety and security testing, and coordinate technicians daily while mentoring juniors.

The role requires line management experience in a technical workshop, a Level 4/HNC in mechanical engineering, strong organisational and IT skills, and a proactive, safety-minded approach. Outdoors work is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating colleagues in a technical/workshop/testing environment.
• Level 4/HNC in a mechanical or engineering qualification (City & Guilds acceptable).
• Strong organisational and multi-priority management abilities.
• Proficient IT skills (MS Office).
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive problem solving.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Technician to join our Highway Safety & Protection of Infrastructure (HSPI) team in Nuneaton on a 12-month contract (Inside IR35). This is a hands-on role supporting the preparation and delivery of vehicle, safety and security testing programmes, while providing day-to-day guidance and support to technicians across the facility. You'll play a key role in ensuring testing activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone with a workshop, testing or engineering background who enjoys practical problem-solving, coordinating activities and working within a dynamic test environment. You'll have the opportunity to support a wide range of vehicle, safety and infrastructure testing programmes while helping to drive continuous improvement across the facility.

Please note; this role involves working outdoors in all weathers.

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll need

• Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating colleagues within a technical, workshop or testing environment.
• A Level 4/HNC in a mechanical or engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• A flexible approach and the ability to adapt within a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in testing, research and development, instrumentation, calibration management or workshop/site safety activities would be advantageous but is not essential.

Please note

• This is a 12-month contract (Inside IR35).
• Working 39 hours per week.
• Rate: Up to £21 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
• Roles requires working outside in all weathers
• Security clearance will be required for this role due to the nature of work.
