Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Senior Technician (Development Approvals) within the Infrastructure Planning Team in the Environment and Transport Department. You will assist in the technical approval of third-party highways and transportation schemes through the development process and provide highway engineering advice to planning consultations for offsite highway works.

Qualifications

• BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification, or proven experience with continued learning.
• Experience in engineering settings related to road construction or new developments.
• Collaborative work with customers and key stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
• Ability to interpret and write technical and non-technical reports, providing advice based on standards (DMRB, LHDG, Manual for Streets, etc.).
• Knowledge of current legislation and procedures (Highways Act, NPPF, NRSWA, TMA, CDM).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with concise written advice and negotiation ability.
• Ability to work to tight timescales and meet targets.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the technical approval of third-party highways and transportation schemes through the development process.
• Provide highway engineering advice as part of responses to planning authority consultations for offsite highway works.
• Ensure adoptable highway infrastructure meets current standards while facilitating development and supporting economic growth.
