Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Senior Technician (Development Approvals) in the Infrastructure Planning Team, Environment and Transport Department. The role focuses on the technical approval of third-party highways, providing highway engineering advice during planning consultations, and ensuring adoptable infrastructure meets standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to provide concise advice.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage workload against deadlines and deliver outcomes.
• Experience in engineering design, management, maintenance or admin processes for road construction or new developments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the technical approval of third-party highways and transportation schemes.
• Provide highway engineering advice in responses to planning authority consultations for offsite highway works.
• Explain and apply standards such as DMRB, LHDG, Manual for Streets, and related guidance.
