Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Assistant Transport Planner to join the Highway Development Management Team at County Hall, Leicester. The role focuses on providing highway development management advice, managing a caseload of minor sites, and supporting the Senior Transport Planner on more complex sites.

You will assist with transport input on pre-application enquiries, outline planning applications, and planning appeals, and engage in negotiations for highways mitigation including

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/NVQ4 in relevant subject or experience in Highway Development Management or land use planning.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work to tight timescales with a customer-focused approach.
• Experience in interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports.
• Experience in transport analysis or assessment work.
• Knowledge of the planning process as it relates to highways and transportation.
• Effective negotiation with external organisations and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide highway development management advice to support transport assessment throughout the development process.
• Assist with transport input on pre-application, outline, and planning applications as necessary.
• Engage in negotiations to secure highways mitigation including Section 106 discussions and other funding sources.
• Support partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies and communities.
