Job summary

Dalkia UK is seeking a Senior Technical Manager to lead technical strategy across complex MEP projects in a project-based role. You will drive pre-construction design reviews, challenge and de-risk designs, and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant, deliverable solutions.

You will engage specialist professionals, drive value engineering, and manage client and partner relationships to deliver successful outcomes for healthcare, commercial, leisure, and public sector

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading MEP design management on complex construction projects.
• Strong understanding of pre-construction processes and technical risk mitigation.
• Ability to manage and influence multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Confident communicator with ability to challenge and interrogate design solutions.
• Demonstrable experience delivering projects in Healthcare, Commercial, Leisure, and MOD/MOJ sectors.
• Strong commercial awareness including consultant scope and fee management.

At Dalkia, our mission is to deliver a better experience—for our clients, communities, and our people. As a Senior Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role within our Technical Management team, helping drive technical excellence across complex MEP projects.

This is a project‑based role with a strong focus on pre‑construction, where you will lead the technical strategy, challenge and interrogate designs, and de‑risk projects before they reach site. You will work across the full project lifecycle, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure designs are coordinated, compliant, and deliverable.

You will be part of a wider technical community supporting projects across multiple sectors, contributing to Dalkia's ambition to become the UK's number one technical solutions provider.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a highly capable and collaborative technical leader who can:

• Take ownership of design and technical management during pre‑construction phases


• Develop and manage technical strategies and deliverables plans aligned with project goals


• Identify, manage, and mitigate design and technical risks


• Lead technical reviews and challenge design solutions to ensure best outcomes


• Ensure effective design coordination and communication across multidisciplinary teams


• Engage the right technical specialists at the right time to support project success


• Drive value engineering and design optimisation


• Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act (BSA), CDM Regulations, Industry standards and best practice


• Manage relationships with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders

What You'll Bring to the Role

• Proven experience leading MEP design management on complex construction projects


• Strong understanding of pre‑construction processes and technical risk mitigation


• Ability to manage and influence multi‑disciplinary teams and stakeholders


• Confident communicator with the ability to challenge and interrogate design solutions


• Demonstrable experience delivering projects in sectors such as Healthcare, Commercial, Leisure, and MOD / MOJ (desirable)


• Strong commercial awareness, including consultant scope and fee management

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Building Services discipline (BEng, MEng, or MSc)


• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards) with a relevant institution such as CIBSE, IET, IMechE


• Demonstrable breadth of experience across Building Services Engineering


• Experience managing projects with £5M–£50M MEP value
