Senior Technical Accountant (Ceded Reinsurance)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom

Overview: Ceded Reinsurance is a strategic function within AXA XL responsible for defining and implementing reinsurance strategies and managing reinsurance treaties throughout their lifecycle. It is part of the AXA XL Risk Management function.

The Ceded Re Operations team manages all Treaty Reinsurance business written within AXA XL, comprising Technical Operations, Technical Accounting, Data & Operations Reporting, and Central Operations.

This role is within the UK-based Ceded Reinsurance Technical Accounting team, primarily responsible for:

1. Overseeing settlement of all Ceded Premiums and recovery of all Ceded Recoveries (~USD 3bn/year);
2. Managing collaterals collection (~USD 9bn);
3. Overseeing BDX releases to reinsurers;
4. Performing credit control of balances, including Aged debt Management for treaty and facultative portfolios;
5. Managing collateral collection for US entities, contributing to technical accounting processes, participating in transformation projects, and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

Environment & Challenges: Managing USD 9bn of collaterals, ensuring compliance and effective claims recoveries, and maintaining relationships with brokers and reinsurers.

Key Interactions: Internally with ESS, Actuaries, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, IT, Legal; externally with brokers, reinsurers, banks, auditors.

Main Activities: Managing bordereaux issuance, credit control, collateral processes, regulatory reporting, ad hoc requests, and system management.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related; experience in finance or reinsurance; proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
