Senior Technical Accountant (Ceded Reinsurance)

Ceded Reinsurance is a strategic function within AXA XL responsible for defining and implementing reinsurance strategies and managing reinsurance treaties throughout their lifecycle. It is part of the AXA XL Risk Management division, with the Chief Risk Officer being a member of the leadership team.

The Ceded Re Operations team oversees all Treaty Reinsurance business within AXA XL. It comprises four key areas: Technical Operations, Technical Accounting, Data & Operations Reporting, and Central Operations.

This role is within the UK-based Ceded Reinsurance Technical Accounting team, primarily responsible for:

• Overseeing the settlement of all Ceded Premiums and recovery of Ceded Recoveries (~USD 3bn annually);
• Managing collaterals collection (~USD 9bn);
• Overseeing BDX releases to reinsurers;
• Performing credit control of balances, including Bad & Aged debt Management for treaty and facultative portfolios globally;
• Managing collaterals for US entities, contributing to technical accounting processes, participating in transformation plans, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

Environment and Challenges:

As of Q4 2024, managing $9bn of collaterals across 150 reinsurers, ensuring compliance and effective claims recoveries, and maintaining relationships with core brokers and reinsurers.

• Internal: ESS (India), Actuaries, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, IT, Legal;
• External: Brokers, Reinsurers, Banks, Auditors.

Core Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience;
• Experience in finance or reinsurance industry;
• Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Access;
• Analytical and reconciliation skills.
