Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking a senior technical leader for the Application Support Team. You will own end-to-end delivery across Windows, Linux, Azure and SaaS platforms, guiding incidents, architecture decisions and service improvements.

The role involves mentoring staff, shaping hosting standards, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure resilient, compliant services across ~60 services and ~80 applications.

Qualifications

• Extensive technical background across Windows/UNIX-like environments, Azure cloud services, and SQL databases.
• Experience supporting a large, diverse application estate in a complex org.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, change, problem, and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Owns multi-platform app hosting and lifecycle management across Windows, Linux, Azure and SaaS.
• Lead major incidents and coordinate resolver groups with hands-on support when needed.
• Mentor team members, develop capability, and drive continuous improvement.
