Government of The United Kingdom is seeking an experienced operations leader in Redcar to coordinate frontline waste and transport services. You will lead Team Leaders, manage a large frontline workforce, and ensure safety, performance, and regulatory compliance across service delivery.

The role emphasizes people management, scheduling under pressure, and driving continuous improvements while supporting contracts, procurement, and budgets to deliver value for money.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large frontline teams and managing staff performance.
• Strong track record in service improvements and meeting KPIs.
• Experience working with customers, contractors and a unionised workforce.
• Knowledge of transport, waste and health & safety legislation; HR practices.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate daily waste/transport operations and team workloads.
• Lead and support Team Leaders; supervise 85–100 frontline staff.
• Monitor performance, handle complaints and drive service improvements.
• Manage HR processes: leave, recruitment, inductions, training and return-to-work.

• Coordinate daily Trade, Residual, Green, Recycling, weekly food and Bulky Waste collection services, helping achieve full zonal clearance and service KPIs.
• Lead and support Team Leaders, with responsibility for a large frontline workforce of up to 85-100 staff.
• Keep health, safety, vehicle checks, driver hours and relevant waste/transport requirements on track.
• Monitor service performance, respond to complaints and service requests, and use information to identify improvements.
• Support contracts, projects, service development, procurement and budget monitoring to help deliver value for money.
• Manage key people processes including absence and return-to-work discussions, annual leave, appraisals, recruitment, inductions, training and employee matters.
• Prepare reports, maintain accurate records and work with colleagues, contractors, elected members and the public. A confident, credible leader with strong people-management and frontline team-supervision experience.
• Someone who can plan workloads, prioritise under pressure, communicate clearly and keep teams focused on safe, effective delivery.
• Experience of performance management, service improvement and working with customers, contractors and a unionised workforce.
• Good IT skills and the ability to use information, targets and performance indicators to make practical improvements.
• Knowledge of transport, waste and health & safety legislation, alongside HR and employment practices. Salary: £40,444.00 - £42,123.00 Grade: G (SCP 28-30)
