Job summary

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is seeking a Highways CDM and Compliance Lead within the Transport, Engineering and Highways service. The role provides strategic leadership, assurance for health, CDM and compliance, and drives safe, compliant delivery across capital and operational activities.

You will collaborate with senior managers, project teams and contractors to set standards, offer expert guidance and push continual improvements in safety culture.

• Lead a risk-based framework to ensure statutory and client duties are fulfilled and contractor accountability is strengthened.
• Embed consistently safe and compliant delivery across operational and capital activities.
• Work with senior managers, project teams and contractors to set standards, provide expert advice and drive continual safety improvements.

Job description

We are excited to advertise an opportunity for a Highways CDM and Compliance Lead working in the Transport, Engineering and Highways team. This is an exciting time to join the service at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, as we are currently expanding the team to strengthen our strategic and technical capacity to deliver the significant capital and revenue budget allocated to the service. The role will provide strategic leadership and authoritative assurance for health, safety, CDM and compliance across the Transport, Engineering and Highways service. The postholder will lead a practical, risk-based framework that ensures the Council fulfils its statutory and client duties, strengthens governance and contractor accountability, and embeds consistently safe and compliant delivery across operational and capital activities. Working with senior managers, project teams, designers, operational teams and contractors, the role will set standards, provide expert advice, oversee assurance and drive continual improvement in safety performance and culture.
