Job summary

Exeter House School, part of Brunel Academies Trust, seeks a Senior Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND and help them make progress and build skills for life. You’ll work under a qualified teacher to deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop independence.

You’ll plan and adapt activities, monitor progress and contribute to development plans, while collaborating with teachers, therapists and others.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent.
• Essential Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or HLTA status.
• A Level 3 qualification, which may be vocational, would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND to take part in learning and progress.
• Lead learning activities for individuals, small groups and classes under teacher direction.
• Plan and adapt activities to pupil needs and objectives.
• Supervise pupils and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
• Observe, record and report pupils' progress and development needs.
• Prepare learning resources and run targeted interventions.
• Support therapy, care and personal care programmes when required.
• Contribute to development plans and reviews under the class teacher.
• Communicate with parents or carers when agreed with school leaders or teachers.
• Lead the class in the teacher's absence.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly.
