Job summary

Bryn y Deryn Family of Schools in Wales is seeking a committed Grade 5 Teaching Assistant to support targeted literacy and numeracy interventions. The role is permanent and to start as soon as possible, working 32.5 hours per week across term time.

You will deliver small group interventions, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to remove barriers to learning while fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting literacy and numeracy in an educational setting.
• Understanding of intervention strategies to improve pupil progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
• Experience with learners who present behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and/or ALN.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reflective, proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy intervention programmes to individual pupils and small groups.
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and leaders.
• Support learners to develop confidence, resilience and independence in their learning.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to identify barriers to learning and implement effective support strategies.
• Contribute to person-centred planning and intervention reviews.
• Support learners with social, emotional and behavioural needs to engage successfully with learning.
• Help create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals where appropriate.
