Job summary

Neath Port Talbot Council's school in Neath is recruiting a Teaching Assistant Level 3 (Literacy Intervention). The role starts asap and runs until 31 August 2027, with a salary of £20,040, term-time adjustment, 30 hours a week, 39 weeks per year.

You will plan and deliver small-group literacy interventions, support reading fluency and comprehension, and work closely with teachers to raise literacy standards while prioritising safety and pupil wellbeing.

Teaching Assistant Level 3 (Literacy Intervention)

Start Date: asap up to 31st August 2027
Salary: £20,040 (subject to term time adjustment). The salary stated will be subject to a term time only adjustment for the commencement of employment outside of the start date of 1st September.
Part Time: 39 weeks Hours: 30.00
Mon – Fri 8.15 am to 2.45 pm (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspirational dynamic Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant to help raise standards of literacy throughout the school in order to support pupils in the development of excellent literacy skills. The successful candidate will run small group literacy interventions for pupils to support student progress and engagement. Experience of working with children in an educational setting is essential but training in any specific packages or approaches will be provided.

The successful candidate duties will include:
