Job summary

Vetro Recruitment supports a Torfaen-based educational institution seeking a Literacy Intervention Assistant. The role focuses on delivering targeted small-group literacy support to boost reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence in a supportive school environment.

You will plan, monitor progress via data, and collaborate with teachers to identify and aid students needing literacy intervention, while fostering a culture of reading across the school.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent.
• Experience working with students in a literacy or SEN support setting.
• DBS check required; Full UK Driving Licence if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver small group literacy interventions to improve reading fluency, comprehension and confidence.
• Implement targeted, structured literacy programmes aligned with individual education plans or SEN support.
• Monitor student progress through data analysis and maintain records of interventions and outcomes.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to identify students needing literacy support and assist classroom teachers to ensure progress.
• Promote a positive reading culture within the school and contribute to literacy activities.
• Support staff with administration of corrective reader programmes and setting up student accounts and reading levels.

Our client, a leading educational institution in Torfaen, is seeking a dedicated Literacy Intervention Officer to join their team. This role involves working closely with students to enhance their reading skills, confidence, and overall literacy development within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering small group literacy interventions to improve reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence.
• Implementing targeted, structured literacy programmes aligned with individual education plans or SEN support.
• Monitoring student progress through data analysis and maintaining accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
• Collaborating with teaching staff to identify students who would benefit from targeted literacy support and assisting classroom teachers in ensuring progress.
• Promoting a positive reading culture within the school by contributing to literacy activities.
• Supporting additional staff in the administration of corrective reader programmes and setting up student accounts and reading levels.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working with students in a literacy or SEN support setting.
• Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence (if applicable).
