Job summary

Coal Clough Academy in Burnley is seeking a hardworking, enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a full-time permanent contract. You will work under the class teacher to implement planning and assessment, supporting pupils for accelerated progress.

Qualifications

• Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals or small groups.
• Have a good understanding of core subjects at KS3 and KS4 (functional skills and GCSE).
• Monitor pupils and assess, record and report on pupils' achievement, progress and development to Middle Leaders, the SENCo and parents/carers.
• Accurately document progress relating to attainment, targets and attendance through Personalised Intervention Plans (PIPs).
• Support the development of pupils’ reading and literacy skills.
• Have a good understanding of SEND needs and strategies to support pupils' learning.

Responsibilities

• To work under the direction of the class teacher to implement planning and assessment and work with individual pupils or small groups to secure high levels of progress.
• To support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting inclusion and develop communication, behaviour, independence and social skills.
• To provide supervision and learning opportunities across non-lesson activities, including visits and outdoor education activities.
