Job summary

Coal Clough Academy is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team on a vocational pathway. You will work under teaching staff guidance to implement planning and assessment, supporting individual or small groups to achieve accelerated progress.

The role focuses on helping pupils overcome learning barriers, developing communication and social skills, and managing behaviour in line with school policies, while supervising non-lesson activities and providing constructive

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at level 9–5 or equivalent.
• Level 3 Child Care/NVQ or equivalent related to education.
• Experience of working with children in an educational setting, especially with barriers to learning.
• Sound behaviour management techniques.
• Able to work as part of a class team to support planned lessons.
• Ability to break down tasks into small steps and provide focused feedback.
• Good time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils under the instruction of teaching/senior staff or HLTA leading the class.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop communication, behaviour, independence and social skills.
• Provide supervision and guidance in non-lesson-based activities.
• Provide feedback to pupils on progress and next steps under teacher guidance.
• Promote good pupil behaviour and manage conflicts according to school policies.
