Job summary

Newbarns Primary & Nursery School is seeking a Senior Teaching Assistant to join our KS1 team, under the guidance of the SENCO. The role supports pupils in a Primary School setting and requires a relevant Level 2 qualification. DBS, references and a health check will be required.

The position is a temporary, full-time appointment from as soon as possible until 31 August 2026, with a 30.40 hour week (8:40am–3:15pm, Mon–Fri). Visits to the school are encouraged prior to applying.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a Primary School setting.
• Flexible and highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team.
• Experience in supporting children with SEN would be an advantage.
• Recent KS2 experience would also be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the KS1 team under the guidance of the SENCO.
• Assist in KS1 classroom activities and support pupils with SEN where appropriate.

We are looking for a candidate who has experience of working with children in a Primary School setting; who can bring their own skills and interests to enhance the life of the school; is flexible and highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and works well as part of a team. Experience in supporting children with SEN would be an advantage. Recent experience in KS2 would also be an advantage.

Visits to the school and/or discussions with members of the Senior Leadership Team are positively encouraged.

Essential qualifications: A relevant QCF recognised Level 2 qualification.
