Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead multidisciplinary teams across the full lifecycle of complex defence, nuclear and critical infrastructure programmes in the UK. You will define requirements, lead architecture and integration efforts, and mentor engineers while engaging senior stakeholders to deliver lasting value.

You will work within AEDC to deliver across land, maritime, air, space, nuclear and CNI domains, with opportunities at national sites and a flexible hybrid

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (or equivalent experience), with CEng, CSEP or progress towards professional registration.
• Experience delivering systems engineering within complex defence, aerospace, nuclear, energy, infrastructure or government programmes.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, lifecycle management and standards (ISO 15288).
• Experience leading requirements engineering, architecture, integration, verification and validation activities.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams, influence engineering decisions and deliver successful outcomes.
• Experience using digital engineering, modelling and architecture tools and frameworks (e.g. DOORS, Cameo, SysML, UML, TOGAF or MODAF).

Responsibilities

• Lead the application of systems engineering principles, processes and standards across the engineering lifecycle.
• Define and manage requirements, ensuring traceability through design, integration, verification and validation.
• Lead architecture development and solution design for complex systems and capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, work packages and engineering activities.
• Apply systems, architecture and digital engineering techniques to support analysis, integration and decision-making.
• Conduct technical assessments, trade studies and engineering analysis to inform programme decisions.
• Support system integration, acceptance and transition to operational use.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships, mentor engineers, contribute to business growth and apply MOD acquisition knowledge, including KiD.
