Job summary

TRIUMPH design teams in Cheltenham are seeking a Lead Engineer to steer the definition, development, integration, and certification of advanced hydro & electro-mechanical actuation and control systems across the lifecycle. You will shape technical direction for a long-term development program and drive process improvements.

The role requires expertise in systems engineering, architecture, and V&V, with a focus on safe, validated aerospace actuation systems and strong supplier coordination.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical/Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS / Polarion / similar).
  • Experience with aerospace actuation systems or high-integrity systems.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, architecture, integration, and V&V.
  • Experience leading supplier technical activities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and interface specs.
  • Proven delivery of programmes with DO-178/DO-254.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level requirements definition, traceability, and validation.
  • Define system boundaries, concepts, and architecture for actuation and control systems.
  • Own system architectures, functional models, and interfaces across mechanical, software, and electronics.
  • Oversee design and development of actuation systems with motors, braking mechanisms, sensors, and control electronics.
  • Lead supplier technical activities and conduct design reviews focusing on interfaces, safety, and certification.
