Job summary

Nouvita Healthcare Ltd. invites a compassionate Senior Support Worker to join Lansdowne Road, a 12-bed residential home for adults with learning disabilities in Bedford. You will lead a team to deliver person-centred, high-quality care and support residents to live fulfilling, independent lives.

Experience in learning disabilities and a leadership mindset is preferred. DBS checks apply; funded training, career progression and a range of staff benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities in a residential or supported living setting.
  • Desirable leadership experience.
  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable; willing to progress further.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, medication administration and person-centred care.
  • Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • DBS check, references and right to work checks required by safer recruitment rules (CQC).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of Support Workers to deliver outstanding care.
  • Promote person-centred support respecting individual needs, choices and goals.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, personal care and medication.
  • Complete and review care plans, risk assessments and daily records.
  • Mentor and supervise staff; provide on-the-job guidance.
  • Ensure safeguarding and health and safety policies are followed.
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals and external agencies for best outcomes.
  • Cover the service in the absence of the Manager.

About The Role

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team supporting adults with learning disabilities in a residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care while leading and supporting a team to help individuals live fulfilling, independent lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team of Support Workers to deliver outstanding care.
  • Promote person-centred support, ensuring each individual's needs, choices and goals are respected.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, personal care, medication and community access where required.
  • Complete and review care plans, risk assessments and daily records.
  • Support staff through mentoring, supervision and on-the-job guidance.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and health and safety policies are followed at all times.
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for the people we support.
  • Take responsibility for the service in the absence of the Manager, where required.
About You
  • Previous experience supporting adults with learning disabilities in a residential or supported living setting.
  • Experience in a senior or leadership role is desirable.
  • A caring, patient and positive approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate others.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable; willingness to work towards further qualifications if required.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, medication administration and person-centred care.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
